Id say it varies from college to college. In mine you used to have to get 55 in the one you were compensating from and at least 35 in the other, but you couldnt compensate in every subject combination.

Its a load of crap really, should be either you pass or fail it. Asking someone to re-produce enough information from a module to get to 40% isnt asking that much...less than half the subject matter.
