Our cat is pregnant and we've never hadkittens before so I'm looking for tips on how to prepare, what to expect and basically how to make her as comfy as possible. Also, we have a 9 month old Shih-Tzu and the two of them love wrestling and chasing each other, the cat teases himsomething fierce. Is it okay for her to be so active and boistrous when she gets more heavily pregnant? She's 3 weeks gone so far.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there, I've not had a cat with kittens so I can't give personal advice, but I'd a quick dig through some old threads here and
http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055554228 is about a cat pregnancy with good info and here are a few posts by people in this forum who know what they're talking about :)

I'd assume your cat will know herself when to stop playing and she might tell the dog to bugger off. I'd also make sure she's not being harrassed as such by the dog when she gets closer to birth, make sure she's her own space away from him and that she feels safe.

Did you deliberately not spay her or was in an accident? If an accident, you still have time to prevent the pregnancy going full term - your vet can still spay her and terminate the pregnancy at the same time. Think about it because it will prevent a lot of unwanted kittens.

I second that, far too many nice/unwanted pets out there without a home

It was accidental. She'll be spayed once she's given birth but not before, but there won't be abandoned kittens- ones we don't find homes for will stay with us.

Thanks for thelinks star pants .
