I have a massive mound of clay in the back garden that will need leveling and then some more work before sowing a lawn. However there is a serious amount of grass and weeds growing on it now. Someone mentioned I should get some weedkiller and cover the whole area and kill off the grass and weeds a week before the digger arrives. If not I have been told the layer of sod will cause problems.

Anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions/tips?

should I strim it and then spray it maybe?
