I have an interview for a masters in music composition in NUIM this week. Just wondering if anyone has ideas on the types of questions I may be asked etc or any advice?

    Hi,

I did a music masters interview last year but not for composition. They're really really nice though! Very relaxed interview. If its in any way like mine things they might ask you could be

Why do you want to do the course?

    What composers/genres interest you?

What kind of areas would you like to specialise in?

Why Maynooth? You could say you want to study under a certain lecturer or something along those lines...

You have an option of doing a thesis I think, so they may ask you what area you would like to concentrate on. The other alternative is technology I think so if you're interested in that instead you can talk about it. look up the course structure before you go in and be able to say what subject choices you would like to take.

What would you like to do with a masters in composition?

They might also ask you about your undergrad degree. Probably stuff in relation to composition, maybe if you did a large scale one for your final year project or that.

    Best of Luck:pac:!!!
