What sort of quantity or type of tile are you looking for?

I spoke to two different people who picked up good value in large quantities of tile recently.

One picked up marble floor tiles for the whole ground floor of their new house from a tile contractor who had them left over from a Hotel fit-out, the price was about 25% of what they would retail at. (Presumably the hotel had probably paid for them already)

The other person was also looking for floor tiles for the ground floor of a new build, the tile shop wasn't very helpful when they wanted a lighter shade than what they had in stock, so he phoned the manufacturer in Spain (info was on sample board) to enquire about shades and was surprised when the manufacturer offered to supply him direct, he actually flew over for the day on a cheap Ryanair, picked out what he wanted and paid them and arranged for a transport company to bring the stuff over for him.

With all costs, including getting some extra just in case, they ended up being 50% of the best price he could get here retail.
