A group of pensioners has been accused of kidnapping and torturing a financial adviser who lost over €2m of their savings.

Most investments are gambles, this one didn't pay off so tough **** to them. They were too lazy to invest there own money so paid someone else to do it, so again tough **** to them.

You can bitch and moan when you lose money in a gamble but you can't go around tying people up and torturing them FFS.

Well, if we define a "scam artist" in this case as a stockbroker who does not conduct their business in a legitimate manner, then it is impossible to prove that he does not according to your logic.

It wrecks my head when people say "you cant prove a negative", any assertion/claim can be turned into a negative and thus made "unprovable". How do you prove something anyway?

You can't prove a negative is a shorthand way of refering to the huge difficulty of gathering evidence to "prove" that something does not exist. It's far easier to prove something does exist.
