Nokia software updater.. Grrrr

    Anyone else have a problem using this, trying to update firmware on an e51, it won't charge via wall or usb since last night...

    I get an error, critical components missing, please reinstall, anyone know how to fix this or the phone tks..

    I had this problem. For some reason you have to disable internet connection sharing and iirc you have to make the program run in vista compatibility mode and run it as an administrator.

    This is on vista right?

    Ok, I FIXED IT, in my case the problem is that i have turned on "internet connection sharing" on my ethernet adapter in order to then create an ad-hoc wlan for the phone to connect to. As soon as i disabled ICS the program worked. So i guess i will turn off ICS every now and then in order to use it.

    Genius, thanks Sam, have the updater working...

    It says I already have the latest firmware, is there a way to reinstall the firmware...any ideas

    It works no bother with Sams fix, not a major problem..

    Phone still not charging though...:confused:

    ... Also had to shut down the anti virus on my machine to get this to work.
    This software stole hours of me life. I hates it.

    I'm assuming it's network branded firmware so you could change the product code:

    Haven't done it myself but Columbia Rad should be able to help you with that. I believe the Nemesis Service Suite software can do it.

    My phone doesn't charge through USB btw, I think you need to get a special USB cable that has a separate nokia charger adapter on it

    Yes, you can put the same firmware on it. Its on the same screen as the one that tells you its already up to date. Just click continue.


    The latest firmware available for the E51 is V 300.34.56, but it may not be available for your product code. If you dont have version change your product to 0553974 and you will be able to update to the latest firmware.
