But ladies are very discreet about it. Coy, even.:)
They have a wider field of vision, so don't need to turn their heads. The downside is that women are much more likely to go blind because their eyes are more exposed.

sunglass are important..... make shore your eyes can't be seen to :)

You mean for the checker-outer? Or the checker-out-ee?

I prefer to see eyes. Eyes are great. Too many ladies wearing sunglasses at the moment. :(

There's a difference between coolly checking someone out and leering at them..... the latter is offensive the former cool!!;)

Not when you're not making stupid comments or whistling or doing anything else annoying. I'm amazed at the number of morons with no social skills around here (village in Belgium). Grown men elbowing their mates to stare at you and giggling like five year old girls and wondering why they get the death stare. A glance and a smile is fine and appreciated.

Can't say I mind at all tbh, unless they're like 20 years older than me or being really pervy and creepy about it. It's just a silent compliment imo.

Never minded a friendly once-over, but when you start licking your lips, that's a bit much!:D

Excuse us for not wanting to be blinded by the sun :p

I do know what you mean though, it can be hard to tell if someone's hot or not when they're wearing sunglasses, they hide half a person's face!

I don't mind being checked out, if it's done in a tasteful way!

If it's a bunch of lads and they start smiling and nudging each other, I get embarrassed.

If it's a guy who stares me out of it, I get freaked out.

If someone blatantly stares down my top and doesn't bother being in any way subtle, I get offended.

    I don't mind a quick glance and a smile - that's flattering!

I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with guys checking me out - but the way it's done obviously makes a difference. It's possible to do it without being creepy and sexist and making the girl uncomfortable (and ditto if you reverse the genders). The following lyrics from one of my favourite bands, Lush (London indie act from the late 80s/90s) sum my view up pretty well:

"I'm as human as the next girl, I like a bit of flattery
But I don't need your practised lines, your school of charm mentality so
Save your breath for someone else and credit me with something more
When it comes to men like you I know the score, I've heard it all before".

Walking across town today a taxi driver slowed right down started puckering his lips in kissing movement at me and said

Oh hello hello look what the sun brought out today ......

Wasnt in the mood for the old git so said "Was it an a$$hole?"

This seemed to turn him on which in turn made him beep his horn and wave frantically ...........

    Seriously? Thank god i drive!

You can check me out only if you are in 5 years either side of my age, otherwise dont please dont!

I wouldn't mind what age the guy was - although a man does get to an age where it's just not appropriate any more (50s perhaps). Still though, a bit of flattery in a subtle, genuine manner by an auld fella is fair enough.

    :pac:eyes? how very ghey!!

On the sun glasses note, i find Cébé an excellent brand for perving the summer months in ireland, they're really good on both high light and lowlight days, and no one is ever going to know what you're looking at:)

I dont care what anyone says...

    WOMEN LOVE ATTENTION

Why else would we bother spending an hour choosing what to wear and slapping make up on! Boys, men, gentlemen....builders, look all ye want...just dont make a gal feel cheap!! Remember, actions speak louder then words!!

Not when I'm just going about my daily life, I'd prefer to be left to my own devices.

If you think I get dressed and put make up on to attract the stares of builders, you're sadly mistaken.

Er..women, just like other groups of people vary. So some do and some don't like attention.

Some women spend a lot of time on their appearance because they feel self-conscious, or feel that it's expected of them. Oh or some might just do it for themselves! (crazy thought, I know - just shoot me now)

Im not backing down on MY beliefs...

If ye dont like being looked at and wear make up for "yourself" wear a cloak and hide from the stares....

Its what men do, stare and think about their next meal (sex) its their biological make up!!

So when you see a beatiful woman...what goes through your mind??
Iv no problem with what men think when they admire a beautiful woman or any woman for that matter....dont they say....

The sin is in the deed and not the thought :P

A smile and a swift glance is always good. A stare and a grunt never is.
Or several grunts I would imagine :pac:

Haha, well.. what goes thru my mind would be something like a vision of me confidently strolling over with my back straight and head held up high, and then chatting and socialising for hours with this lady..... :P:P:P

Not that i ever have the balls to do it
    ... :P

Oh sure. As long as they are "beliefs", a person allowed to hold onto them as tightly as they can, even in the face of any evidence to the contrary.

Yes...as you say, my choices are:

    a) wrap myself in a cloak and hide from the male gaze
    or
    b) give in to the inevitability of biological determinism that argues that men are incapable of controlling themselves when in the presence of a female and women are incapable of functioning without male validation of their physical attrativeness.

    Gah!
