    Hi there,

Would anyone know what the ratio of petrol to diesel cars in Ireland would be roughly?

    Thanks,

    Reg

I don't know the ratio, but its definitely in petrols favour but this is changing as new car sales are majority diesel.

"In April 2009, of the 5,558 new private cars licensed, 2,285 (41.1%) were petrol and 3,135 (56.4%) were diesel."

I presume the missing 2.5% are hybrids?

I believe on the old cc based tax scheme they were relatively low at approx 20%. With the new emission based scheme diesels will probably be closer to 60%. I don't have exact figures though.

Suprising figures to me , nearly every 09 car I see is an oil burner and evey second thread on motors is asking about which diesel car to buy.

purely on guessing, excluding commercials, I'd say it's 70:30 in favour of petrol
