Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Insurance & Driving Test

    Howdy Folks,

    Quick but awkward question,
My brother has just informed me he is due to sit his driving test next week
Has had all his lessons, passed theory test, had plenty pre-tests etc... all ready to go.

    Except - one problem
He is not insured on the car he is meant to be doing his test in!
He got our dad to look into insuring him on his car as an additional driver just for a few days or a week purely for the sake of the test.
Insurance Company (will not name) have come back and said he cannot be added to the policy due to being under 25.
(I would add him to mine but I'm on a company policy)

What I want to know is:
are there any alternatives to getting insured on a car just for the test?
Do RSA or driving instructors provide cars for test where he can be insured just for the test etc...?
or any other round-about way of getting through this?

Hopefully mods or fellow members can shed a bit of light on this?

    Cheers

A lot of driving instructors will rent out their cars for Driving test, it'll probably cost you 100+ though, not entirely sure of the price, but your brothers instructor should be able to advise him. That would probably be your best bet.

    Thanks for the replies lads,
Were looking at that option at the moment, the only problem is that the instructor that he used was a 1 man Driving Instructor company, so not that easy to get the car for hire....

I think he is also looking into getting temporary insurance from another company, not sure what else he can do if both of these options fail.
Anyway, will have to wait and see,

    Thanks again,

That shouldn't be a problem as most instructors are 'one man' operations.

Inform your instructor of the test date and time as soon as possible. They will then re-schedule any lessons that are booked to give priority to a test. That's what is normally done as it is a regular occurance.

I used 'inverted commas' to indicate that it was a figure of speech - and not indicative of any particular gender! ;)
