    Hi there,

new poster here - great threads on EI!

Am flying Dub-Bos in a couple of weeks and have managed to snaffle an upgrade to premier - can someone please tell me the regs. of the 2 330s which have not been upgraded to lie-flat seating - so i can do the war-dance beforehand to stave off being put in either of those planes!!

    thks

    Hi
I'm travelling to orlando direct from Dublin on the 12th September with my family can anyone tell me which plane will be used and if it has the updated entertainment system in economy.

Read on this site, from someone who knows, that the transatlantics are only allocated 3/4 days in advance so perhaps a bit early for a september flight

Had the On Demand IFE going to Boston in late June and back from New York in late July...it is the berries.

There's a great selection of movies, games, tv shows and the quality is very very good.

The SFO route is always operated by a A330-200. All of which are upgraded to the new AVOD system.

Press release today that EI have rejigged their delivery schedule with another A330 next April. And 2 older aircraft going in October and next March resepctively.

    Hi, new member here.
I have been reading all of these posts with a lot of interest and am AMAZED at the knowledge of everyone.
So maybe you can help me.
We will be flying with Aer Lingus premier class next Tues (Aug 18th) to JFK - first time with Aer Lingus.

Can anyone tell me what type of aircraft it will be (in connection with the type of seat) and the inflight entertainment?
I found a website - somewhere - that also showed the premier class movies but can no longer find it.
    Thanks for any trouble taken.

This is probably due to some kind of language barrier but I have no idea what this means.
What does 'EIN11C KJFK-EINN before return to lessor mean'?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭Foggy43

EI-JFK is the registration of an Aer Lingus A330.
EIN11C is a flight number. The last letter C = flown as Cargo/no cabin crew.
EIN and EI = Aer Lingus
KJFK is the ICAO code for JFK airport
EINN is the ICAO code for SNN or Shannon
Lessor is the actual aircraft owner and as EI-JFK has flown is last commercial sector for Aer Lingus (EIN) it will next fly to it owners location.

Maybe Aer Lingus have different codes. I am used to 'C' meaning insufficent Cabin Crew flying with Cargo only.

Just in relation to the "C" bit...you see this quite a lot with flights where a 3 digit flight (in this case should be 110) is changed an a lettter used instead of one of them. Quite simply, its to avoid confusion.
Take for example 2 flights with similar flight numbers are either arriving, departing or mixture. E.g EI-121 is goin to Orlando, but also EI-122 is arriving close enough to its departure time from Chicago. To avoid confusion usually one of the flights will be designated a letter in its flight number instead. i.e. They may call the inbound flight EI-12D. It reduces the chance of confusion from ATC, giving instructions out and one crew radio-ing back and asking "Was that for the Shramrock 121?".
It happens all over the place, not just Aer Lingus. As the flight in question, EI-110 (JFK-SNN) was renamed 11C for ATC purposes, it could have been as a result of a similar flight number operating out of Kennedy Airport between EI and some other airline(s).
Most days the EI-585 is redesignated 58W.

I always wondered why some flights had a letter at the end of their ATC callsign, never knew that was why! How do they decide the letter, when is it decided and how do ATC no about it?

ATC know of course because they have the flightplan ;)

Its decided by the flightplanning department of the appropriate airline in consulation with the relevant authorities from wherever the flight operates to, if nessecary
