Gus Papathomas is very good. He's moved to the new building next to wlfrm

I'd go with Gus always. I avoided the dentist for many, many years - since the days of the dispensary in New Gate Street. But a few years back I went to Gus and he was great. Very pleasant and really knows his stuff.

Do any Waterford dentists have links to dental practices abroad. I've heard some Spanish and other Euro countries carryout orthodontic work for a fraction of the cost here.

This thread could do with some refreshing, anyone gone to the new Smiles clinic on Canada Street? Their prices seem very cheap, I wonder is quality good.

Another who has been away from the dentist for around 10 years or so. Had braces for years and couldn't face going back for regular check ups. My teeth seem fine, but I'm not looking forward to the large bill I expect to face.

Is that town dental down by the park your talkin about? Ive had some treatment in there,Im not finished yet,I found the dentist very good! I want to get further treatment done and he will refer me to a specialist in Dublin but told me to really think about it first, and I think that is important that your not pushed into something! (Ive worked in a specialist dental surgery in Waterford,so know a few things about who's good & who are butchers)

Been with the *butcher* for about 4yrs now....regular 6 month check ups.... a few fillings and one extraction. Pleased with the work......but

Very quick...too quick now that I think about it....on last visit never gave enuf time for injection to take good effect...always kept me in the chair and got to work asap..... last visit was not nice at all. Also zero personality. :(

Time for a change me thinks.

Aye, he's very good. He'll actually sit you down and talk to you before getting anything done. Some dentists just get stuck in without doing preliminary work, x-rays, discussion or anything and then tell you you need x amount of fillings, crowns or whatever when it might only be cosmetic work needs doing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,691 ✭✭✭michellie

Yea he does, he makes sure you understand exactly what is wrong or what he is going to do. Even draws you a picture to explain it! Little things like this make a big difference.

I was told is two doctors in TownDental are they both good? Or witch one you have in mind?
And who would be best with children,my daughter 2 and need help with front teeth...

  • Registered Users Posts: 691 ✭✭✭wellboy76

I would recommend Gus too. But ask before you get anything done, I thought one or 2 of the dentists out there were a bit pushy in telling me to get work done. I have a pricey rootcanal done and then they wanted to do more work. Must have thought I had 2 grand in my pocket. But they are the best in town, with the best equipment and I suppose it has to be paid for!

Williamstown Dental clinic is where you will find them.

One of the dentists is romanian and he's very good, I got a tricky root canal done by him. For your kids though I'd say go with Philip Christie, he's the nicest dentist I've ever had, he'd put your kids at ease no bother.

Never realised that there were so many dentists in Waterford!!

I hadn't gone to the dentist in years and was very nervous....have been going to Richrd O Hara in Ballybricken for about 10 years now and find him to be very good

Anyone tried towndental in canada st?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,937 ✭✭✭spookwoman

Used to got to canada street owner years ago he's very good with the needle you dont feel it. I think he specialises in other stuff now. The other chap thats with him tried telling my mum recently she needed loads of work to be done. She went to Kennedy in the Brasscock centre and he basically told her it was bull. I went to Kennedy a few years back and he was very nice. Good music playing in back ground :)

Who's the butcher? Just to make sure it's not my dentist. I need two fillings. I usually go to Noeleen Walsh in O Connell St and find her good but changing to the guy in Ferrybank. He was great with the kids so I'll give him a go.
Do you need to follow a protocol when switching dentists or do you just make an appointment and turn up at the new one, does anyone know?

Noleen Walsh, O Connell street. The only dentist worth going to in Waterford

  • Registered Users Posts: 922 ✭✭✭crustybla

The best dentist in Waterford as far as I'm concerned. Just a pity she doesn't open on Sat's
At this day n'age I thought all these kinds of business's would be open on Sat's. Especially with so many people working outside the city these days

After all the butchers I have been to around town over the years if Noleen's was only open one day a week I would still be going to her, top class professional. I live in Limerick now and she is still my dentist.

I always use Williamstown Dental (Was previously Dr Tully's by Newtown school and Benildus church, moved to bigger premises out by Tesco Ardkeen) and highly reccommend them.

Williamstown dental are the best, me and all my family have gone to them from day one back when they were in Newtown, probably the longest serving dental practice in Waterford, that says it all!
