Stiff lock on car door

    is it OK to use WD40 oil in a car door lock that is stiff when it is a central locking type lock

    Spray away - it might leave a streaky mess (nothing a wipe with a rag won't cure) but it will do no damage.

    wd 40 is not a good idea, will wash away remaining grease.
    you need a good spray lube like lithium grease

    Yeah WD40 is only ever a temporary fix for things like this. It's not a lubricant.

    Hold open the key hole with your car key or a match and a quick blast of WD40 will do the trick. Had the same problem myself

    graphite is the best lube for lock barells,
    most likely the source of friction is the linkages attached to the barell
