Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buying a 2nd hand car and HB Dennis

I'm new to the city, is HB Dennis @ the airport a reptuable dealer?

Anything I need to be aware of when buying a 2nd hand car from a dealer? I know things like NCT and NCT guarantees, finance owing etc....

When I buy the car do I need to arrange 3rd party insurance before I take delivery of it and drive it home?

With the motor tax (for emissions based on CO2 g/km) is that paid by the dealer or me?

    Thanks!

Yes, 3rd party insurance is the minimum statutory insurance required to drive on a public road.

The owner (i.e. you) is liable for motor tax from the day you own the vehicle. If it is post 2008, the tax is based on the emissions, pre-08, it's based on the cc of the engine.

Technically it's liable from the first day of the month you own the vehicle. If it's untaxed, I'd see if they would tax it for three months or at least split the cost and get it taxed for you.
