Looking at installing two ready made sandstonegate gate pillars and need figure out foundations.

Planning around a 4:1 ratio with a little water for the two house pillars 26"x26" square (5-6ft tall) and assuming I allow a couple of inches extra each side for support and use a depth of 12". I get following calcs using 28x28x12in=9408cu in = 0.15cu m multiplied by two for the 2 pillars so estimated 3.0 cu m concrete required.

How many sacks of sand/aggregate/cement would I therfore need buy to mix this volume?

I think you better check your calcs again.

PM me if your having trouble (seriously)

doh! meant to be 0.15 x 2 = 0.3 m3. How much of each constituent do you think I would need assuming this is now correct.

Where are you getting your sandstone gate pillars from? Can you PM me the details, I'm after limestone pillars so maybe they do these too.

    Thanks in advance.

If I were you, Iwould dig your foundation a little bigger.
A meter square would be a safer option, working out at 0.6 meters of concrete. with things quiet now, most ready mix companies would supply this amount, and maybe 2 layers of steel in each for added strenght.
