Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Moving to teaching and lecturing, you'll probably get more useful replies there.

I would say mixed, but only because I've found it a more natural environment to teach in.
Try if possible to get a spread of ability too.

If you've not got one yet, the answer would be "Whichever one will take you" :P

On a personal level, i find Boys schools much easier to teach in than mixed( i haven't been in an all girls school). With the younger years, particularly 2nd and 3rd years in mixed schools, the boys are finally noticing the girls and doing lots to get their attention, like playing up in class. Usually HDippers get many 2nd and 3rd years so be prepared for that:D

I went to an all-boys school.

I hated it and couldn't wait to get out of it.

I think it would stir up far too many memories for me..

    What about an all-girl school.

All experiences/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I would agree that boys are the easiest to teach.
The few classes I have had that were all girls are the ones I have least good memories of.

OP- I was thinking more of useful experience for finding a job, which is why I suggested getting experience with all levels of ability.

Interesting... I just have a terrible feeling that I'll be eaten up by a class full of boys.

Never show any fear. They'll be looking for any sign that you are not in control.

Make sure you're well-prepared and that what you are doing is appropriate for their age or ability, keep them busy, work out who the ring leaders are, be very familiar with the school's discipline procedure.

Remember you're not there to be their friend.

Excellent advice, it's half acting. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't shaking on my first day. But I kept them busy and was strict. End of.
