I may add that Dublin have a unique trump card - Paul Griffin, and his frankly fabolous accent. They produce the best of the best and the toughest of the toughest in Blackrock, and clearly Griffin, with his intelligent and commanding upper class accent, is a captain who will shame and humilitiate the low brow peasants of Cork, Kerry and Tyrone. ;)

    :)

Personally i like the half back line. Griffen is an exellent man marker and could definitely articulate what he wants from his players as captain! No question. Ger Brennan offers a lot more around the park (if he keeps control of himself) than Brian Cullen ever did. Barry Cahill is an absolute work horse in attack and defence and a player who rivals the best half backs in the country IMO. The other backs? I'm far from convinced. David Henry gives you his best every time but is that good enough? Don't think so. Bastick covers a problem area for Dublin since the day Paddy Christie hung up his boots and a clever forward could give him the runaround. Don't know about O' Carroll yet.

All in all i actually disagree. I think Dublin have to outscore their opponents or kill them in midfield to take them to an All Ireland. All unlikely against the low brow peasants of Cork, Kerry and Tyrone!

Grenache and soccy, this teasing really isn't funny. :(

We all have our own unique views, and if I think Limerick are a superior footballing team to Cork, and likewise Offaly a superior hurling team to Cork, can't you simply debate the point rather then taking potshots?

Ah sure, I'll debate it with ya so.
    You're wrong about both ^. :D
I find your unique views very mind-boggling Orizio.
Care to explain why you feel Cork (a team that defeated all-Ireland contenders Kerry) would lose against Limerick (a team that came close to losing to the likes of Clare & Tipp).
You have probably explained already but I just haven't seen yet.

I think its a form of self-protection for Orizio. He knows that Cork have messed up at the penultimate and final stages in recent years and is probably expecting them to do the same this year. Thus by limiting his expectations of them he is not setting himself up for yet more disappointment. Although as you rightly say, saying that Limerick are better than Cork is laughable. However i'm certain that Limerick will push Cork all the way. They beat an improving Tipp side (who will cause plenty of problems for teams in qualifiers) and they never looked like losing to Clare, not even getting out of third gear. Limerick have yet to play their best football, and i feel they will peak for the final. They will have their homework done on Cork from the two Kerry games. There has been a low-key build up to the final for Limerick, nobody is talking about them. There media have been coming in their pants over Cork. Its all about how good they are and how they are going to win the All Ireland (which they may well do). So Limerick are waiting in the long grass, with no expectation and no pressure on them whatsoever. It is a prime position to be in.

But realistically, does Orizio really expect Cork to lose to Limerick.
*Looks for Orizio to come online and give his view*.
Yes, Id say Limerick will enjoy the fact of being underdogs but I just can't see a Limerick win on this one unless the likes of Ian Ryan and co. can give the perfomance of their lives and shock a Cork team like last year.
I feel Cork are stronger than last year to be honest and I don't think they will allow last years munster performance against Limerick to repeat itself.

I'm not expecting Limerick to win, Cork should have too much for them. That said, i'll still be disappointed if Limerick dont win. It would be fantastic to see the likes of John Galvin and Stephen Lavin finally get the Munster medal that their play over the last 9 years has deserved.

Yeah, of course you'd be disappointed, you're a Limerick lad. I'd find you fair "different" if you weren't dissapointed to be honest.
But, I can't say the same thing. Up The Rebels.:D

I like Orizio.:) Always seems to eloquently play down Corks chances before they go on to do the exact opposite of what he states Cork will do.

I hope he "predicts" Kilkenny to thrash the Dubs by 25 points.:D:D

I have already done that, although I wasn't quite as generous as you. ;)

I'd imagine there would be no problems for tickets for Cork/Limerick on Sunday?

No, I doubt there will be to be honest.
I think I might just by my ticket at the grounds on Sunday unless it is an all-ticket game?
And davestar, megan fox? You could have at least chosen someone better..

Ah- nonsense time of the year again.

Kildare? Up there with Cork? huh? The same team that was beaten by Wicklow this time next year? Sure pal, you go give Paddy Power your dole money. In fact, whatever odds he's giving on an All Ireland Semi- I personally will triple if you wish and we can have a friendly third party hold the cash and release it to the winner- how's that.

Nice to see Dublin have won the All Ireland after beating two poor teams. I guess the team will all go out and celebrate their imminent capture by going on the piss and then getting thrashed in August as usual by kicking 5/6 attempts wide in the last ten minutes.

Respect is EARNED. You don't do that in the early stage of the Championship thumping rubbish counties.

Realistically Tyrone and Kerry, are favourites. They've won every all ireland between them since 2003- that's 7 championships in a row folks. Don't count Kerry out because Cork have beaten them in Munster- has it ever done Cork any good recently?

Below that, it's Galway, Dublin, Cork and Mayo. At least Mayo have contested two All Ireland finals albeit they tried to outplay Kerry at football. You fools! If I had to pick between them, I think Cork are the team. Dublin will choke, Galway and Mayo are too weak at the back and Cork have been improving steadily and more importantly are building from the back on U21 victories and a steady improvement over the last 5 years in the senior panel. Their smack down in 2007 by Kerry in the final will have taught them a lot too.

    My 2C

Dont think anyone has even suggested that Dublin are contenders yet, much less probable winners. Cant judge them on either game this year yet to be honest. A hugely below par performance against Meath and a good performance against a hugely weak Westmeath. Neither tells you anything about the team but ill stick to my original prediction that they are too far behind the likes of Tyrone and Kerry for Gilroy to make it up is such a short time. I think this year is again between Kerry and Tyrone with Galway having an outside shout if they can get their act together. Dont think Cork or Kildare are close at the moment. I think Tyrone or Kerry would take care of them without too much trouble once the quarters arrive. Kildare tho i do think will be well in the Leinster final and could well provide a shock. Especially if the Dubs go into it believing the match on Sunday was a sign of how good we were and not how bad WM were. Anyway, i think its the same 2 this year and i would lean towards Tyrone. Having said that, Kerry have been listening to all this "you cant beat Tyrone" talk all year so will be all out to prove that wrong.

I don't find that appealing in the least. Maybe thats just me personally.:pac:.

Im straying off topic now. Ok, well its either Cork or Tyrone to win the All-Ireland.
Kildare, pfft. Dunno what people are thinking.

    No, its not being telivised.
RTE are f**king useless. Waste of a TV license in my opinion.
This game will surely be a cracker but no, RTE will probably put on some crap in place of it.

The Monaghan v Armagh match is on TV which is fine as that should be a good game. I was hoping that the Offaly Cork game would be on the internet if it wasn't being televised though. From what I can gather the Monaghan Armagh match is on the rte website aswell which makes fook all sense.

Armagh/Monaghan will be a **** game. Guarantee it.

How can it not be on the internet? Is it not on TV3 or Setanta?

Hurling team is 'interesting'. To summarise, Hero Murphy and Timmy Mac = bad, Tadgh Og = good, Pa Cronin and Shane Murphy = we will see. Good odds on Hero being the first subbed.

Football team is fine, Kieran O'Connor is solid although I would have preferred Paudie Kissane.

    Cork Team vs Offaly

    1. Donal Óg Cusack (Cloyne)
    2. Shane O’Neill (Bishopstown)
    3. Eoin Cadogan (Douglas)
    4. Shane Murphy (Erin’s Own)
    5. John Gardiner (Na Piarsaigh)
    6. Ronan Curran (St. Finbarr’s)
    7. Seán Óg Ó hAilpín (Na Piarsaigh)
    8. Tom Kenny (Grenagh)
    9. Tadhg Og Murphy (Sars)
    10. Jerry O’Connor (Newtownshandrum)
    11. Pa Cronin (Bishopstown)
    12. Timmy McCarthy (Castlelyons)
    13. Ben O’Connor (Newtownshandrum)
    14. Aisake Ó hAilpín (Na Piarsaigh)
    15. Kieran Murphy (Erin’s Own)

    Cork Team vs Limerick

    1. Alan Quirke (Valley Rovers)
    2. Ray Carey (Clyda Rovers)
    3. Michael Shields (St. Finbarrs)
    4. Anthony Lynch (Naomh Aban)
    5. John Miskella (Ballincollig)
    6. Graham Canty (Bantry Blues-Capt.)
    7. Kieran O’Connor (Aghada)
    8. Alan O’Connor (St. Colms)
    9. Nicholas Murphy (Carrigaline)
    10. Paddy Kelly (Ballincollig)
    11. Pearse O’Neill (Aghada)
    12. Paul Kerrigan (Nemo Rangers)
    13. Daniel Goulding (Eire Og)
    14. James Masters (Nemo Rangers)
    15. Donncha O Connor (Ballydesmond)

    From the GAA website.
    Armagh v Monaghan Sat 7pm RTE2
    Cork v Limerick Sun 2pm TV3
    Dublin v Kilkenny Sun 4pm TV3

From the sports section of RTEs website it seems they are showing the Armagh/Monaghan game on the web aswell but no other game as far as I can see. Correct me if i'm wrong somebody.

35 quid for Cork/Limerick on Sunday.

That may be Fraggie Murphy rather then Hero Murphy on the Cork starting team btw. If its the former, Offaly by 3, the latter, Offaly by 5.

haha i hear mayo and dublin are gona win the next ten all ireland between them:D:D:D

seriously, tyrone for sam. antrim should(hopefully) be a nice wee run out, chance for some of the fringe lads to get a shot.
bear in mind if they win, its straight to q-finals, and we know how tyrone perform in croker, dont we kerry men and dubs.

my each way bet would prob go on cork or galway. mayo an dubs will both mess themselves while i believe that kerry wont even make final, perhaps not even s-final

Anyone else feel that this years football championship is more widely open than any year previous. Impossible to predict a winner. We're all waiting for Kerry to kick into gear and pull away....don't believe that will happen...too much baggage there with o'connor and the current panel...not a happy harmony...........everyone automatically assumes Cork will take up the mantle in light of their easy win in the replay but i don't think Cork are all they are been hyped up to be and will also fall short. Tyrone haven't a hope.!
I feel that this year we will have an outsider winning the championship....and the most likely of these is Mayo. This is a team that have been rejuvenated under John O'Mahony. Third year under his control and he has rang the changes in more ways than one which needed to be done. What you see with Mayo these days is a different kind of animal than in previous years and no team will want to meet them. My bet for success for this year.Good too at 20 - 1. Put your money down.!!!

In all the years and posts I have read on boards this is the most ridiculous statement ever written!! The CURRENT All Ireland champions who have won their opening 2 games at a canter, with almost a full strength panel of players and a team of proven winners and this poster claims they haven't a hope. Can i just ask why????
