Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Arcade Fire are working with James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) on tracks for the new album...

Fan reports from a secret gig reported the new songs are 'fun, dancey and groovy'

    Woo-hoo!

    10. Deep Blue.
    9. Ocean of Noise.
    8. Sprawl II.
    7. No Cars Go.
    6. Power Out.
    5. Antichrist Television Blues.
    4. Haiti.
    3. Rebellion.
    2. Laika.
    1. Tunnels.

For me, at least. I feel bad for leaving out something as huge as Wake Up, but I think that's more fun live than it is to actually sit and listen to. Either that, or I've heard it so many times I've made myself deaf to it or something.

I don't. Once U2 adopted it as their official 'anthem' it died a little for me.

Would be studiously amazing if they played Dublin brute the year is out.
    Always an amazing gig.
Last time I had a great list night in town afterwards till 4am, got up to get the 7 30 train back to Galway and put in a full days work.

I don't think so to be honest. I'd imagine they'd do something along the lines of a solo phoenix park gig, get to choose their own day line up - similar to the park hyde park gig they did. Either way wherever they play I'm there.

    No, album is October.

First play of the new single is presumably the 9th.

Or full details of album etc.
The 9th is a Monday, best day to publicise, if done on a Fri would get a bit lost over the weekend with other news

^ Confirmed to be a new single / music video by NME just under an hour ago!
Arcade Fire will be premiering their new track 'Reflektor' on Monday of next week.

Director Anton Corbijn told The Daily Beast that the band will be unveiling the video for the song on the evening of September 9, saying: "I'm working on a really great song at the moment: Arcade Fire's new single. The song is called 'Reflektor' and you'll be able to see it Monday evening."

That is fantastic, can't wait for the album!

I'm pretty sure thats Bowie halfway through the song.

Think that first link is gone now

    Here is another

    Sounds great!!
    Liking the James Murphy influence!

LCD Soundsystem featuring Win Butler :pac:

Love it, it's like a darker Sprawl ii.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,113 ✭✭✭SilverScreen

I quite like that new song actually. Yes it does remind me of Sprawl II only darker and funkier with a hint of LCD Soundsystem in there courtesy of James Murphy's production. If it's any indication of what the rest of the album is going to be like it's going to be a departure from their previous material and something a bit different.

Listening back to the track now, it's got James Murphy's grubby paws all over it which isn't a bad thing but I think there's a really brilliant 4 minute song hidden in there.

Love the song, the last two minutes are incredible. Pretty neat video from Mr. Corbijn too.

It makes me sad for how much I would have been excited about it three or four years ago, growing up sucks :(

Really don't like that at all. Hopefully it's not an indication of what the rest of the album will be like.

have to say I love it, can imagine the gigs being unbelievable ... as always, but with the murphy influence they could be brilliant in a different way to previous.

    This is really fu(king great.

I'm a fan of Murphy as much as the next guy but that is quite underwhelming. It sounds like something he'd do as a demo for one of his tracks and the vocals don't do much for me either. Not a fan of it at all.
