Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey just bought a new olympus e420 dslr as i'm a random pic person but i really want to explore the areas of sunrise and sunset with Landscape. Does anyone know of a good place around Longford or Leitrim that has a good view of sunrise or sunset that i can use?

    Welcome fellow Olympus person!

You can usually only find those special places just before dark or really early in the morning...:)

    Another Olympus user!

I used to spend a lot of time up around Leitrim, the only places I can think of are in Sligo. If you don't know the best spots and nobody here can help then ask some locals, I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

Good luck with the new camera :)

At this time of year, make sure you find a view facing north east for sunrise at around 5am and anywhere facing north west for a sunset around 10pm, I find this website handy : http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=78&month=1&year=2009&obj=sun&afl=-12&day=1 (just ignore the fact it believes the only place in Ireland is dublin, it's pretty much the same for where you are :))

    That's a cool application, thanks.

OP, I've found that all the planning in the world can be made useless by a small cloud drifting into the wrong spot for 10 minutes, the best plan is to be prepared to leap into action camera in hand at any opportunity. Having said that you can't be too far fron the Shannon and its lakes as well as the lakes near Mullingar.

Something else you could try is some searches on flickr, just like this one for Longford sunsets.

Best of luck with the new camera, don't be afraid to post here if you need any help or advice.
