I found this a quite common request so I'll post it here.
This will not change anything else, such as internet settings etc.
All this does is change the carrier display to a better look.

Step 1: Download these two files. They are fairly small :)
    file 1Default_CARRIER_O2-ie.png
    file 2FSO_CARRIER_O2-ie.png

Step 2: Upload these two files to your iphone at /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/O2_ie.bundle
There are two files with same names in the folder, simply replace them.

Step 3: Reboot iphone, you are done!

    Hope this helps.

No. This is not in Cydia yet and I have no plan putting it there.
But it's an interesting idea! I never thought I could do that. And it's technically achievable.

Thanks weilai. Got this to work on my 3GS as well - although it requires editing the ipcc. So you can enable tethering at the same time.

    img_0054.png
    1. Rename the O2_ie.ipcc file to O2_ie.zip
    2. Open the zip with winrar
    3. navigate to payload > O2_ie.bundle
    4. Delete the two PNGs
    5. Drag the two PNGs posted above into the O2_ie.bundle folder
    6. Close winrar and rename the O2_ie.zip file to O2_ie.ipcc
    7. Shift-Click check for updates in itunes and select the ipcc.
    8. Done!

You just need to follow the guide in my post above. You can get the O2_ie.ipcc from here. Then follow the guide in my last post. When you've finished it, just re-install the configuration files for O2 Contract of the jellysms site, reboot your phone and you're good to go.

Frustrated me trying to figure it out for a while but to let everyone know that for whatever reason a software update seems to have moved the o2 carrier bundle to this location:

    /private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles/ (for me)
    or
/private/var/mobile/Library/Carrier bundle.bundle/ (apparently some people have this instead)

Put the images in there and you're good to go...

    cheers. ;)
