    does this qualify?

    in this case about a third of US houses are owned outright, so of the 18Trillion of equity possibly 1/3 is in the hands of people that own their own homes, so we have 12T in equity covering 10.5T in debt

    They're citing the total value of equity rather than the equity remaining the single-family mortgage cohort?

    thats is what the Note 1 says, the value of housing stock includes homes with and without an underlying mortgage
