Beginner Cubase Question

i just got cubase and am hooking up my mic through an external soundcard.,(toneport UX8) but for some reason it seems only to be redcording on the right(the top line), playing back on the right speaker.,even though the monitors on the hard ware and the soundcards software is picking up both. i wonder if anyone could give…
