Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As far as I know a salvage certificate comes from when a car is written off by an insurance company. I think in the UK it's issued by the DVLA
Depending on the level of damage it can in some cases be legally repaired and re-sold.
In the UK they classify them as Catergory D (or CAT D) which is minor cosmetic stuff, to CAT C which has significant body damage to CAT B which is only fit to be used for parts and cannot legally be repaired and put back on the road.

To get a log book in Ireland (or a vehicle ownership certificate as it's now called i think) you have to import the car into Ireland....see the Importing a car from abroad thread for info on this but you'd have to contact the DVLA in the UK if it's an english car which your post seems to suggest.

Thread title updated - no requests or suggestions on how to circumvent VRT.
