Record video from webcam with vlc?

    Hi. Have most recent version of vlc installed and can't figure out howto record video? When I open capture device it detects my cam and displays image fine.

    Can vlc do this? googled it, and the tutorials mention stuff I can't see in my version.

    I think you should use some screen recorder, which can help you capture whatever streaming video and audio files on your screen, and it can help you record full screen. I often use it to help me record video from vlc, and save it, so I can enjoy the video at will. :D

    Wow, old thread !

    I expect the OP is sorted out, but for the benefit of anyone else, it is indeed possible to do this and much more with VLC, in command-line mode. There is a guide to streaming with VLC here
