Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gear change "stiff" after work done by garage

    Hi,
I left my car in to a garage with a "cutting out" problem.
Anyway, after a week of investigation, the successful diagnosis was a faulty crank shaft sensor, which was then replaced and the car runs fine now.

The only thing is, since I got it back, gear changes are not as smooth as when I left it in, there's bit of resistance in gear changes that wasn't there before.

I'm just wondering would this just be something simple like needing some gear oil, or might the mechanic have upset something while rooting around ....

I'm dropping it back in anyway for another small job. Just wondering if it's likely to be a big job to tackle this. It's a bit of a pain when driving, but I guess I could live with it.

    Thanks!

I had the same issue with a 2.2 tid 9-3. I needed some work done to the front suspension after an argument with a rock. It sorted itself out and loosened up after about a week, never caused me any bothers.

    Fiat Multipla.

I just drove it there at lunchtime ad the gear change is best described as just plain stiff. I had nice easy slick gear-change last week and now it's just stiff and ugly, between all gears. Clutch problem maybe, I dunno ... the clutch engagement itself hasn't changed, just the movement through the gears is laboured now, a bit like trying to drive slowly forward wth the hand-brake on.

Could be a clutch problem, otherwise depending on were the sensor is fitted, the gear box or engine or both were removed to gain access, if this was done, when they were being refitted, everything could of be tightened up to a certain tension causing the stiffness.. dosent solve the problem but hopefully some sort of help to you :)

They possibly dissconnected the selector cables to replace the RPM sensor and they got rerouted with a bad bend on them when they were being reconnected.
