Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Front Bonnet painting

    Hi,

I need to replace the front bonnet in my 05 Focus MkII. I can get a new one from here http://www.micksgarage.ie/proddetails.aspx?pid=168142&pk=5EDC1 . I am assuming it comes in no color at all and I would have to give it to someone to paint it. I don’t want to go to the Ford garage as I will be ripped off. How much am I looking at approx. for a local painter (Kilkenny area if it matters) charging me for painting it in black metallic? €200, 300, more ?

    Thanks

Well a Ford garage would probably just sub it out anyway like most dealers.

Ring them and ask them would they recommend someone. €2-300 probably wont get the job done though. Wings and bumper will need doing too to blend the colour

It'll take a bit of fiddling too to get that bonnet to fit right (Equal gaps etc). It's not just as simple as bolting it on and painting it.

You have to also consider that you will be buying the bare metal of the bonnet you will have to fit the heat shield and wiper sprayer fittings and other pieces of trim, there's a fair amount of careful work to do as to not wreck the newly painted bonnet you receive back from the painters.
