Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Better stick to a hiace or something

Supposedly quite good and they get the long warranty too. Only roadtests i have seen have been of the people carrier version though

I've drove one of these for a few weekends last year, they're very similar to the Mercedes Vito
(in a good way :D ), they have 170bhp as standard and are very quick.

    Good bits:
    that engine
    double sliding doors
    bluetooth standard
    very well finished
    very comfortable
    rear space well shaped
    standard bulkhead
RWD with LSD and traction control

    Bad bits:
    No electric mirrors
6 speed box would be nice
    no rev counter
    only one size available

These are a serious van and seem very well built, they're brilliant to drive for a van and cost way less than the equivelant Transporter/Vito

ya they seem serious value alright. what are they like for reliability

Too early to tell for sure but I haven't heard anything bad about them. they're quite popular in plases like Australlia, and the older model (H1 Starex as opposed to H100) was reliable if not terribly well finished.

The warranty and roadside assistance package will cover 3 years unlimited anyhow.

Hiace is ancient though, it's been around in the current form since around 1995.

Hiace is the daddy for reliability, but it's outclassed lately in areas like comfort, power, handling, safety, and image. It's still capable and for some people it's all the van they need.

But if you 're looking at vans like the Primastar, Vito, Transporter etc the Hiace will seem old fashioned in comparison. the H1 is a serious match for all these vans as long as the single size choice available was the one you were after!
