What I've also noticed is that on nights out, in a lot of cases the Aussies drink equal if not more than the Irish but they don't get the same rep for it.

Dunno, think they get pissed way quicker on less beer myself. They are alot rowdier than us when locked as well (fcuk, look at the amt of scandals the AFL and rugby are notching up)

guess this story belongs in here. Saw it last week on one of the chat shows on 7/9 or 10. wonder if we do health and safety better than the Aussies

A guy got pulled over by the cops for being over the speed limit and the fine was $120. The guy that was pulled over was a workplace health and safety officer and he in turned fined the cop $800 for not wearing a high visiblity vest while carrying other his duties.

have to agree that aussies can't handle their drink or more to the point prone to hooligan like behaviour when drunk. places like newcastle have 11pm lock ins which are slowly being introduced to melb and sydney.
having said that an irish bar the mean fiddler is the roughest pub in sydney though its out west so doubt if many irish drink there.
anyway great country but like all places let down by a yobbish minority.

commercials during live sport, serious no no.
boast about being good at sports which no-one else plays (cricket, rugby league, swimming ...) and are the biggest bandwagon supporters ever.
bar staff cant pour a pint without wasting half of it, pour at an angle people!

very true especially with regards to cop on and banter or lack of to be precise,

To a certain degree yes but also with heavy influence from the US. It nevers ceases to amaze me the amount of interesting articles in Aussie newspapers/news programmes only to find out it's been taken from London. Sydney wishes tries to be like New York but comes up short I have to say.

Yeah the most violent pub in the state. Which is saying something when it tops the CBH and some of the pubs out west. Dont let a few fancy pics fool you. Same with the coogee bay

The figures show the Mean Fiddler Hotel in north-west Sydney had 51 assaults, while eastern Sydney's Coogee Bay Hotel had 41 assaults.

51 assaults over the space of a whole year :P I'm quaking in my boots!

I'm sure most pubs in Dublin city have that many over a long weekend.
