Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Unless you're doing huge mileage I don't see fuel bills as being a major part of your overall cost of ownership with a 330/530/730d.

I wouldn't worry about the fuel, for a 2006 you'll be paying the CC tax which is high on it.

a bit off topic but - I was looking at the 330d and 320d. The 330d has only a few more horses than the 320 (180 vs 150 respectively, i think) - whats the big advantage of the 330 - is it all mid-range grunt ?

that's a good few more horses in fairness... Also have a look at the torque differences and trim option differences.

The 6 cyl diesel will be a lot more refined (or less unrefined, depending on your viewpoint) than the 4 cyl.

Is it that much better than a 320d ? Are we talking worlds apart or just an upgrade ? i.e. does 320d +remap = 330d or is the 330d in a different league ?

The 330d would have been updated in the latter part of 2005 so wouldn't it most likely the 227BHP variant rather than the 184BHP one? Now that's quite a difference.

Edit: It would have been a ~200BHP variant in 2005 anyway.

Are you sure about those HP figures? 320d should be 150hp (0-60 in 8.3sec) (47mpg), 330d should be 225hp-ish (0-60 in 6.6sec) (45mpg). Quite a bit of difference there. See http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Summary.aspx?model=1398 for comparisons. Bigger engines don't always mean they drink more fuel because the bigger engine doesn't have to work as hard to do the same amount of speed/acceleration. Having said that if you drive with your foot to the floor a lot then yes the 330 will use considerably more fuel. Tax is what would put me off. I have the 320d and love it, nice car and great fun to drive. Never tried the 330 though...

Edit: You beat me to it leeroy :)

Also, does anyone know what I can expect to pay in tax?

    Thanks in advance
