Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well yes, he definitely is.
You'll find very few who'll agree with your opinion on this one.

Can you imagine the abuse I would've received if I'd left out Clichy and put in Aurelio!

Gael Clichy? At Arsenal? Better defensively than Aurelio? Good lord. He makes comical errors and has one of the worst concentration standards for a footballer I've ever seen. Pace and more pace - That's about it with Clichy.

I think putting Clichy as a contender is fine, but if you are going to, how can you not include Fabio? Abidal FFS?

Lahm, Clichy and Evra are all after having poor seasons by their standards and shouldn't be considered for the world's best left-back based on form.

Abidal is getting slated - he is France's No.1 and keeps Clichy and Evra out of the team. Not to mention he plays with the best side in Europe.

Cole is the best at the moment.

I'm a Liverpool fan and I actually do rate Fabio, possibly higher than some on this list. But the fact is he's hardly had one complete season playing for a top team. Also he's nowhere near the Brazil left-back spot. He hasn't even completely consolidated the Liverpool left-back spot. He's technically brilliant but lacks a bit of pace and isn't 100% defensively solid.

I have a feeling there would be people slating me if I put him in, complaining about either Premiership bias or Liverpool bias. The people I've put in on the list is what I would have thought would be an objective opinion on the top 9 left backs. So Abidal has to be in, even if some people think he's cack. For the same reason I think Fabio should be left out.

And just to reaffirm, none of this will make any difference. We all know the 2 or 3 this will be between.

How are people even questioning that Clichy is beter than Aurelio?

I wouldn't debate Abidal has a right to be in the list but the fact that he keeps Evra and Clichy out of the French team is neither here nor there.
Domenech's decisions on who to put in the team are only very tenuously related to football.

    Evra.

Hard to look passed Evra, he's been one of the best defenders around for the last year or two. Excellent qualities all around the place!

went for Ashley Cole, if the poll was done this time last year, would've been Patrice, but he didn't have a great season & Cole was excellent this year.

And the left back spot goes to...

    Patrice Evra

Won very comfortably in the end. No major surprises here.

I'm going to wait untill the Centre midfielder poll is finished before I put up the attacking mid/winger category, as it is somewhat dependant on its results. So there won't be a new poll for a couple of days.
