Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Servicing - alternatives to Main Dealer?

Until now I've been getting my car serviced at the Main Volvo Dealer as I wanted to maintain the impeccable service history the car has had since day one.

    It's a 2.0l LPT Volvo C70 Coupé.

Now I have 72k Miles on the clock, the car wouldn't be worth more than 10-12k in the current climate and I am probably going to run it into the ground anyway I am looking for cheaper alternatives to the Dealer Service. Dealer service is €400 right off the bat.

Any suggestions? I don't know of any independent punters who can service it for me... should I ring around some smaller, cheaper garages and ask them to do it for me? Are there really any disadvantages/dangers in getting a non-Volvo garage to do the servicing for me?

    Thanks in advance.

There is a guy I used to go to called Tony - in Apollo Motors in Dundrum. Had him as my mechanic for years and since I moved Northside my bills have gone up a LOT. He did the timing belt on my husbands car for 150 euros! That was 3 years ago when he service @ 120 euros if I remember ...

Edit - I have nothing whatsoever to do with Apollo, just passing on the info.
