Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

range rover 200tdi, squealing noise up to 2000rpm

Hi, I have a 1993 range rover 2.5 200tdi, recently, there has been a squealing noise and I cannot determine where it is coming from, it happens through 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears, and stops when I get to over 2000rpm, it seems to be when I put the foot down slightly, when I ease off the gas, it stops, kinda sounds like the fan…

Hi,

I have a 1993 range rover 2.5 200tdi, recently, there has been a squealing noise and I cannot determine where it is coming from, it happens through 1st, 2nd, 3rd gears, and stops when I get to over 2000rpm, it seems to be when I put the foot down slightly, when I ease off the gas, it stops, kinda sounds like the fan belt slipping, when I rev the engine whilst parked, the noise does not appear, only when driving...

any ideas?

Have you checked the fan belt and tensioned it?

yes, I checked the fan belt, seems OK, still I hear the squealing, screaching noise.........

I noticed that it seemed to appear after I had driven through a big puddle, the alternator light came on for a second, then next day, thats when the noise started???

I say the belt is slipping, the tensioner is probably knackered..
