    Hi all,

Will probably check the manual when I get home but just out of curiousity, is it possible to play a .avi file on a DVD recorder?

Players will usually have the DivX logo squirelled away somewhere on the front. Having said that, quite a few Philips models have no logo, or even a mention of .avi playback in the manual, but do support it! DivX XviD etc..

If you get 'jerkiness' or tearing during pans, trying to play an .avi on a DVD player, play around with media formats. Some players will not tolerate DVD-R, or vice versa. DVD+R.

For instance, my Philips behaves much better using DVD+R. No more jerkiness, or oddness during film pans.

Oh.. and if you dump .ssa or .srt subtitle files onto the DVD, along with your .avi, a lot of players will use them just fine. Remember, the subtitle file has to have the exact same title as the .avi.
