I'd be interested to hear if anybody got any poker client to work with linux. I could only ever get web based java applet versions of sites to function.

I was running Ubuntu on my laptop a while ago and I got some poker clients running via WINE. I haven't tried the client you are mentioning, but try and run it through WINE. You might event be able to find help for that specific client in their forums. Good luck.

It's an open source operating system. It turns out that Microsoft Windows not equals computers. Shocking, I know.

i had a linux about a year ago and had terrible trouble trying to get the clients to work using WINE, tbh its not worth the hassle because even when you do get them up and running their quite slow which tilted me and i ended up just buying another laptop, if your going to be playing regularly online then just buy another cheap laptop

I think the best approach is to install and run windows in a virtual machine using virtualbox. http://www.virtualbox.org/

Don't bother running poker clients under Wine. If you happen to have a win XP registration key lying around (like the one you'd find on the bottom of a Dell laptop) you can just download Virtualbox and run XP as a virtual machine on ubuntu. Basically, a virtual machine is a program which thinks it's a computer, and runs its own OS.

It works like a charm with win XP, though I haven't tried Vista. As far as I know, the Vista license prohibits it. You can't play games with fancy graphics, but you can run the simple apps like Word or Pokertracker. If anyone tries this, feel free to PM me if you have any trouble.

Here's a screenshot of my ubuntu desktop, got some poker software and some random Ubuntu apps running:
