Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Without a shadow of a doubt the B&W.

The other two look fake and HDR'd to within an inch of their lives.

    B&W
Comment left on your flickr re inverting the border to make the picture stand out more (and to reduce amount of blank ink used when printing)

    Love the shot,
1st or 3rd are best but for me they all suffer from being over the top on the HDR, If it was me i would dial down the hdr look.

No. 2 for me. I'm really enjoying this experimental stage you're toying with.
The windmill and wine glass was an excellent example too.

Love this style, I don't know what it is but it looks wonderful.

I like number 3 but I would love to see the original too without the HDR

Thanks a lot for the comments. At the moment I am really trying to experiment and try new things in order to move up a level. Some is working, some is well..... disasterous and will never see the light of day.

As for the style, I have started messing with tonemapping and textures, some people love it, some hate it ! I find the textures can really give an ordinary shot a real jolt but it doesn't work all the time.

I will say this, everyone intersted in photography should join a photography club. It is looking at the work of my fellow members (and learning from them) that really pushes you to try new things. Looking at work here on boards as well as the likes of flickr really helps too I find.

C&C: I am not in favour of such overkill colour HDR processing at all. The BW version looks a little better, however it shows heavy signs of processing.
This just my personal opinion that applies to most of the HDR overkills, please, do not take it personally.

No offence taken. As I said, some love it, some hate it.

The reason I have started messing with these techniques is an attempt to try more arty, less realistic maybe surreal even impressionist stuff. Again some like, some don't. to be honestI haven't made my own mind up yet but the experimenting is fun.

Has to be No1 Great processing!
No.3 is too dark & dull!

no1. lovely, not OTT on the processing or HDR.
    no. 2 looks OTT
No 3 very nice and moody.

Is the lightening real or inserted by you?If the latter I'd remove it as it steals the eye away from ND.

I prefer the black and white version, but even it looks too processed (to me anyway).

Maybe it's nitpicking but can you fix the white edge around the steeple in the b&w pic?

I think I'm going to have to agree with Thonda on this one. I think all three have been processed way past what I'd consider to be acceptable. The B&W version is only marginally less dreadful because there aren't any garish colours. Plus I can't see any reason at all why you'd want to paste in that lightning.

Ordinarily I wouldn't even comment on these sort of shots, I actually think they're objectively bad as opposed to it just being not my cup of tea. The reason I'm commenting is that there are so many fantastic shots on your stream. Over the last while though you've started processing them more and more heavily. I definitely think you should take a step back and maybe re-consider what you're doing with regard to that.
