I just rang the helpline and an automated voice told me they are "working on it"

Just saw this thread => http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055608998

So maybe a mod can merge my one into that.

Your problem is mentioned in other posts, to fix it you must do this: (All explained in detail in DNS slow posts) Just carried out the change and all back online

    Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222
    Sec. DNS: 208.67.220.220

You will have to edit your Netopia Router settings.

    http://192.168.1.254/

    Go into Expert mode/Configure/Connection:

Primary and Sec DNS settings are there, change to above, and hit Save/Restart button.

There is a long thread about the problem on this forum.
It's a DNS server issue, so easily fixed by switching to a non eircom dns server (opendns)

    edit: too late :)

I managed to talk thru' changing the DNS settings over the phone with my aunty on their 2 machines. I can now remote into the machines, but some sites aren't working that work from here on the same DNS (different provider), so I think there may be some other gremlins in the eircom network atm.

Are there any security risks in using the above DNS?
