I was just wondering if someone could advise me on the best type of insulation to use between floors and in the attic of a new house. Would it be overkill to also insulate the roof?

Firstly, do you have anyone inspecting the works to certify compliance with building regs? If so, they should be your first port of call

between floor insulation is not required by regulation, but is good at keeping noises down... you need to use a heavy material like rockwool for this.

you have two options for the attic

    1. insulate on the flat with 300mm quilted material... or other materials that give you a minimum of 0.16 u value

    2. insulate up the slopes of the roof. This is more time consuming and involves more work.... a minimum of 0.2 u value is required here....
