Well last year,I thought I could get by without Ronaldo,so played 5 Good midfielders from the start,Bentley,Young,M Petrov,Arteta and Downing, finished 19th out of 48,the lad that won our league had'nt Ronaldo! The previous season had Torres,Tevez and Van persie,Malouda,Bentley,Taylor,Fabergas,Jagielka,Jaidi,Halford and James, too much up front!

signed him from leeds 19 yr old, cant see him breaking into first team straight away, he will pick up a lot of yellow cards as he's a tough tackler.
Wouldnt pick him till see how villas first few matches go.

I just bought Foster - but it might not stay that way.

He's up to 1.6% since this morning.

    He's up to 2.3% now!

    17th Draft

    Foster

    Zhirkov
    Corluka
    Evra
    Figueroa

    Gerrard
    Ireland
    Murphy
    Pienaar

    Rooney
    Cole

With: Sorenson, Ebankes-Blake, Lucas and Zayatte on the bench.

Who would be better Murphy or Dempsey?
Also what are the odds of Lucas playing?, especially the second game as I aim to get in Jiminez after that.

Well Murphy took their penalties last season....

    Looking for a 4.5m defender.

Can't decide between Turner and Shawcross. Opinions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,396 ✭✭✭Invincible

Did you consider Scharner(wigan),he might get an odd goal, or Bramble(wig) 4.5m too.

I already have Figueroa so I don't want another Wigan player.

I'd go with Shawcross, tighter defence than Hull.

What's the deal with Fulham? Do they have some sort of qualifier to get through and then possibly don't play in Gameweek 2?

Okay, why is Evra seen as such a great buy? He only got 106 points last year. He was injured for a short while, but still played 2407 minutes.
JoS got 116 points for 1989 minutes and is only 5.5. Obviously Evra is a gtd starter, but not exactly a great FF points player.

So, why is he in so many teams, and why do people say he is a good deal at 6.5m?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,822 ✭✭✭podge018

because he's a guaranteed starter in a defence that will keep a load of clean sheets.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭bantee

Opinions on Vermaelan as a centre-half? I don't much about him, but he should be a guaranteed starter for the Arse. They usually get a lot of clean sheets too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

When in form Evra tends to get a couple of assists. Plus, he's consistently scored more than JOSH each year.

16 clean sheets last season. Would prefer a Chelsea or United defender.

    not last year :p

meh, either way, his best points season so far is 133. That's just not value for money.

I have 7m left to spend on a midfielder.

    I want someone who'll play in GW2.

I'm thinking Riera, Rosicky or Kranjcar.

    Any thoughts?

Don't really like buying players that are unproven. I'm leaning towards Rieria at the moment...

I was really wanting to put Defoe in my team but now they brought in the beanpole crouch I'm sure Arry will be using a rotation policy seeing as Keane is club captain. NOT GOOD for my ff team!

Riera was stretched off injured last night.

Is there anywhere with detailed coverage and analysis of the pre-season. All the results, team selections, what players are playing well, who is thought to be getting into first teams etc.

It doesn't seem to be on any of the main sites..... if it is it doesn't appear to be easy to find.

I have been keeping an eye on the individual threads on here to get some insight, but would like to read up fully what's been going on. e.g. I have no idea how Johnson has been playing for Liverpool. I have no idea how fulham have been getting on in pre-season... are they still tough to beat etc etc etc

I know pre-season are all friendlies, but they'll still give you a decent insight.

So, anyone got a good source for pre-season information?

Each individual club has an official website - most are good for pre season info and reports on the pre season games. Thats where I would start...

That would take way too long and unfortunately I have to work for a living

I was hoping someone would have compiled all the useful information together for me.

O'Shea imo is a dodgy choice. I fully expect Brown to regain his place, and Rafael will challenge too. Beyond that, Fabio might start getting more games at LB as cover for Evra.

Not saying he still won't play a major role in United's success, but expect him to be in and out of your team an awful lot.

IMO the player to buy from United is Fletcher at 5.5. Likely to be a fairly regular starter until Hargreaves gets back, will prob get 4-5 goals a year, and with the shift to 4-4-2, is likely to get a couple more direct assists aswell.

Think I may have settled on my final team:

    Gomes
    A.Cole
    Insua
    Evra
    Hughes
    Arshavin
    Lampard
    Gerrard
    Flectcher
    Beattie
    Ebanks-Blake

Subs: Sorenson, Faye, Jerome and Muamba...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,013 ✭✭✭✭eirebhoy

Is Insua definitely going to start the season first choice?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

Of course - Aurelio is injured, Mavinga in young and inexperienced, and Dossena will probably leave.

Yeah O'Shea is fairly high risk.

Had Fletcher on my team for a while last year and he was muck. They will deffo need to change their tactics for him to improve his points haul. 3.2 points per game average. Expect Jimenez to be decent as Zola said he wants him to push forward from midfield.

    First one for me.

Faye is off to Hull so that's him fooked for a clean sheet. Mikel does not do much for Chelsea and can't be guaranteed a game. Torres is a legend but the fact is that you can get two strikers for the same price. Cole not playing in week 2 though. Question whether Anderson will start all the time.

    Contradicting myself then.
