    Cheers.

I've a feeling that Alex will get a few more games this year. I've fixed the Insua Shawcross debacle.

I'm wondering should I swap RVP for Drogs. Might have to do a few changes. RVP is 10 Drogs is 10.5.

Anelka, Drogba or Berbatov, or even stretch for Rooney.

I think the Utd strikers will score big this season.

RVP will be great overall this year - decent goals return and top assists in the league last year - also now, he's playing with Arshavin all year and as top man of a three up front.

Initially though, you have to go with Drogs - the first five games for chelsea are a cakewalk.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,942 ✭✭✭missingtime

Hah, I've just realised I had 1.5M in the bank as well.

    Removing RVP I now have 11.5 to spend on a striker. E x c e l l e n t.

Torres or Drogs or Rooney or Anelka

I feel like a kid in some kind of store.

Rooney - not guarenteed to score as regularly as the rest but I think he'll do well.

Torres - Mention of fatigue, have a look at our opening 5 and see if you feel good about him scoring.

Drogba/Anelka - Both likely to score as Chelseah have a great start, going by last year you'd favour Anelka.

Can't go with Torres unless I get rid of another Liverpool player.

Rooney...with Ronaldo gone will he have more freedom to score? Hmmm

Drogba/Anelka - Eenie meany miney HEY moe!

Gah this thing has my head wrecked.

    Edit -
    RVP out; Rooney in
    Shawcross out; Warnock in.

    Will probably change again tomorrow.

I'd say it will either be him or Aurelio. Although Dossena did get a run in, probably due to the fact Aurelio was injured.

It's only fair I give you a sneak preview of the team that's gonna win this outright.

    Foster

    Clichy - Terry - Hangeland - Evra

    Kuyt - Modric - Jimenez

    Torres - Drogba (C) - Bent

    Subs: Sorenson, Muamba, Anderson, Figueroa

    I know, I know, top class. :p

I too have gone for the Lamps, Gerrard, Arshavin gambit. Also my team is always slightly diluted due to the fact that I primarily use the game to generate interest in matches and so spread the players around the top teams. That doesn't stop me ending up making large bets with others though. Definitely the worst defence I've ever countenanced.

Whos better value: Berbatov for 10, or Eduardo for 8?

I could do with the 2mill difference to spend of defence, but if Eduardo won't start, then I'll use it to get someone a bit more expensive.

Time to read it and weep playas!

I've been through the team and changed it around maybe 300 times in the past 3 weeks and I've no doubt that I'll permanently stuck to it between now and kick-off tomorrow!

Yeah week 2 is gonna make a difference alright, so I've been tinkering again, and will be fixinf it and breaking it up and fixing it again many times between now and kick-off tomorrow!!!

    here goes

    CECH

    HANGELAND----EVRA----TERRY

    KUYT----MURPHY----MASCHERANO----BARRY

    EBANKS-BLAKE
    TORRES(C)
    ANELKA

Torres. While looking like a fantastic player I'm not sure the ratio between his price tag and the number of appearances he's likely to make is right. I think he's too injury prone to be a constant deliverer of points. Good for the odd burst though.

I'd agree about Torres. I plan to leave him in at the start though and see how he gets on.

He's a player that can get the odd brace or hat trick as well as a good few goals. Rumours of fatigue are making me think I should swap him out for Drogba or Anelka though. It'd fee up a million too.

    Hargreaves and Scholes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 196 ✭✭PCwiggum

Here's my lot for the moment...

    Foster
    O'Shea...Figueroa...Beye
    Gerard...Valencia...Lucas...Murphy
    Torres...Anelka(c)...Doyle

    Subs
    Robinson, Geovanni, Cahil(Bolton), Turner.

I went for a 3-4-3 formation for this week anyway - any thoughts on best formations?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

Right, this is still a work in progress, and I change it every 5 minutes, but I seem to be coming back again and again to something similar to this:

    Sorensen

    Sagna
    Hangeland----Evra

    Gerrard---Murphy---Benayoun----Modric—Pienaar

    Bent
    Torres

    Subs:
    Kirkland
Foley (will he be first choice for Wolves?)
    Ebanks-Blake
    Bramble

    So, what do you's think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,568 ✭✭✭thewools

This is how I am looking now - unsure about O Shea, will he start???

    .....................Sorensen.....................

    ..........O'Shea
    Terry
    A.Cole.........

    Gerrard
    Lampard(C)
    Malbranque
    Jimenez

    ....Ebanks-Blake
    Beattie
    Rooney....

    Subs: Hart, Ricketts, Koumas, Turner

Expecting the defence to score well along with Rooney and Lamps.

Hoping Jimenez and Ebanks can be the bargain buys this season. Was right about Zakit last year so hopefully I can get it right again!!

Jimenez could even be playing up front along side Cole for a while I reckon??

    Foster

Faye Ab --- Evra ---Ferdinand --- Cole A

    Modric
    Jimenez
    Lampard (c)

    Bent
    Drogba
    Ebanks Blake

    Bench: Hart, N'Zogbia, Lucas, Zayatte

Faye Ab only starting week 1 (v Burnley), Will dump Ferdinand after 2 or 3 weeks and probably Cahill for Modric (or Lucas!) after the gap in week 2.

3.5 in the bank, any comments?

Does anyone know who is Wolves best attacking midfielder / winger?

I reckon they'll be involved in some high-scoring games at both ends, so one of those guys may be a decent 5th choice MF option for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

The BBC website reckons Foster is looking doubtful for the weekend. I thought he'd just pulled out of the England game because Fergie wanted him to.

I have Hart as sub goalie but am going to change him to Sorensen. If Foster doesn't make it, Stoke are palying Burnley so he has a good enough chance of a clean sheet. Better than Hart against United anyway.

Sky are saying the opposite, reckon he should be fit. Fergie has a press conference shortly, you should hold off making changes until then.

Theres so many players that you dont if they'll be playing..ie gerrard...

i hope the club conferences give us more of an idea today.....

nothing worse that putting a big name in the team and him not to being involved.

I dropped Gerrard for Lamps. Even without the injury concerns, Liverpool have Spurs Away. Chelsea are playing Hull at home and could whip them 5-0.

Ok think i've finally decided on my team. First year in so opinions appreciated!!

    Foster

    --Evra---Johnson---Cole.A---Hangeland

    --Lampard--Gerrard(c)--Young.A--Lucas

    Bent---Ebanks-Blake----

    Subs:
    Sorensen
    Faye Ab
    Muamba
    Jerome

Ashley Young and Vallencia are both 8.5 so I'm undecided on who to go with, any opinions on this??

Go with Ashley Young. He gets tons of assists because he takes free kicks and corners for Villa. He's also less likely to be rotated than Valencia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

    Anelka or Drogs?

Drogba. Both are the same value so like Lamps/Gerrard, it's anyone's guess at the start but you can change.

Drogba had the better game in the community shield though and is more reliable so that's why you should go with him at the start IMO.

When it says form what is this based on?

Surely for the first game then it's irrelevant or will they use last seasons form?
But what about new players?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,462 Mod ✭✭✭✭Axwell

Form is based on the players average points (cant rem if it was per month or not and the old stats are gone), it wont count for the first week obviously as no one has played. So all players including new ones will start with a form of zero so for week 1 you should set it to auto captain based on price to avoid some random player being assigned. After that you could go with price or form.
