Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Broken Alloy Lock nut screw...

    Terrible description I know.

Somehow I've maaged to break off the one of the parts that attaches the alloy to the car. Its now stuck in the lock screw. Was just tightening the alloy on when *bam* nut becomes loose. Took out nut and see that the screw bit (no idea what its called) has broken clean off the car.

First thought is that this is going to be a pain in the **** to fix and very expensive too unless its just a screw + bolt that I need?

Anyone care to put me out of my misery?

    Few ways around it.

Could try drilling it out, not very successful on wheel nuts.

Other option is to weld a small bar to whats left of the nut and turn it off.

Other people might have some ideas to throw in.

I think its a new hub I need

Its not the alloy nut/bolt that Im worried about, its the fact that it just snapped off the car :o

if it was not cross threaded then you can drill a hole down the middle and get a set of easy outs from the auto factor. they bite in to the stud and allow you to turn the broken stud.

i had a car in the garage a few weeks ago and we used easy outs...took a few attempts but they worked.
