The product is made identically for both the Bulmers and Magners names.
Just what i suspected, its a re-badging of exactly the same product due to international naming righhts issues.

English Bulmers is a different drink.

Magners and Bulmers is the exact same just a different name as they can't sell it in England under the bulmers name.

Irish Bulmers and British Magners are the same product with different names made in the same factor

In England: Bulmers is a cider made by Scottish and Newcastle. Magners is an Irish cider made in Clonmel.
In Ireland: Bulmers is an Irish cider made in Clonmel.

The English Magners is the same as the Irish Bulmers. Same maker, logo, taste.
The English Bulmers is totally different to the Irish Bulmers.

Why doesn't Bulmer's Ireland just re-brand to Magners and save themselves from losing sales in England when Irish people are over there and automatically go to the bar and ask for a Bulmers.

Also they sponsor the Magners league which covers Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Would it not make sense to have the one name in all Markets and stop all confusion for once and for all.

I'd say it's inevitable that they will. I'm sure they've done market research on it, so it has probably shown that an insufficient number of their Irish customers have the brainpower to make the leap, and when faced with a bottle of Magners and a bottle of English Bulmers will choose the latter.

I think the inclusion of William Magner's name on the Bulmers label is relatively recent and points towards brand convergence.

It has already happened. UK Bulmers is freely available bottled in Ireland.
