I take it she did not admit it was unsolvable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

jaysus, we were stuck in that moment for a long time.

people just slowed down calling (is my guess) ....so when there wasnt a constant flow of "possible contestants" they up the money or move on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

Nobodys going to call you! Move on :D

on a seperate note ...... does anyone actually know of anyone that has gotten through to the show ?

how high was their phone bill ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

From one of those ask a question websites
A moment is actually a medieval unit of time equal to 1/40 hour or 1.5 minutes or 90 seconds. Of course now it means a short period of time.

No idea tbh, I did try a few times one night and gave up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,584 ✭✭✭PCPhoto

and I quote "there is NO problem getting into the studio , we've already had quite a number of winners"

but no call in over 40mins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

how much money did you give them (5 calls = €7.50)

    Yep around €7 or €8.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,584 ✭✭✭PCPhoto

we've been promised/threatened to move on for 15mins....its too hard.

really know how to push people into calling.... they'll get someone on the line soon - the time is running out !!! ...oooh .... seriously - I think I'll put my money into blackjack :P (and loose)

she's had enough of this game.... just move on then...feck sake

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,584 ✭✭✭PCPhoto

just wondering about the "second chance" thingy ...... how can they have your name if you dont get into the show.

she keeps saying for the second chance thingy - that even if you dont get through to the show your name will go into a draw to give out a free €100.

Money up again.... honestly - we finished the game, no-one can find the "open" line. (i think they stopped saying that - legally it probably opened them up to someone claiming that if all their phone lines are busy then someone must get the "open" line and people would get through to the studio more often)

    another ...moment thingy.... honestly !!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

That is how it makes money, make the punters think the game is ending so they call.

I would assume they call you back?

found this on the website on the presenter profile
JG Murphy, from Dublin in Ireland

How thick do they think Irish people are?

I don't think this is transmitted from Ireland for legal reasons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

Time since puzzle solved - 52 minutes.

Has this show reached the end of its life? I genuinely think so

Think I know how the bee in D4 feels.

its been on almost an hour .... think of the money they have taken in !!!

even if they got a handful of calls per minute (50) (see my earlier example)... thats 50x1.50x60 =€4500

realistically i think they have more than 5 phone lines....a lot more

Transmitting from abroad would also aid in avoiding presenters running into disgruntled punters on O'Connell Street.

definately agree there....and also tax purposes and cheaper labour costs.

    nite everyone

100 would be a more realistic figure.

Every one rings with caller id.

They then have the number of every caller. They pick a random winner and call him on the same number and then ask his name. Seems straight forward to me. Does not mean you have to get through to the studio!
Can't believe I'm actually defending them here.

Probably the producer ringing in :D
