Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Passat Woes

    Hi All,

    02 Passat, 1.6 petrol, 90k miles.

    i have been experiencing a recurring problem every time i start the car from cold. namely very high reving noise from the engine, last for about 30 to 40 seconds, then reverts back to tick over and sounds normal.

    i'm hoping it's something as simple as an air filter but think it might be something else. last garage i took it to didn't have a clue - not a vw garage - so looking for possible suggestions as to fault and perhaps good garage in west dublin area.

    Bradys in Castleknock & MSL in Dun Laoghaire both VW & both good.

    Don't the on board computers automatically rev the engine up when its cold untill its warmed up to a specified tempreture?

    Would there be a possibility that although the computer is set correctly and doesnt show indications of being wrong in its software, its actually phyiscally putting on more throttle then what it should?
