Fair few of these are already on rockband for download.Bastards have me though with APC, ended up getting world tour basically just for the tool songs, if there was more than one song on it they'd probably grudgingly end up with my money in their pocket.

Sold!!!! even though i like rockband more theres enough here for me to give them a sale.

A perfect circle, blink, weezer, woot @ sweating bullets :D , sublime sunny day realestate, brand new, iggy pop , nirvana meh would have prefered non nevermind songs

Play that F**cking Music by Wild Cherry !!!! who doesn't like that one :D

poor choice of AFI, Rammstein, Sonic Youth tracks imo

Thanks for the heads up OP lets hope it's not set in stone on some of them,

Edit : i should add i will NOT be buying this no matter how good the songs are unless i can use my GH:WT dlc
Edit Edit: I got my wish :D and look at the new guitar http://gh5.guitarhero.com/about.php at the bottom right , wow its got a scratch plate!!!!

I think its a good selection of songs alright.... the only ones I'm not too happy to see are Muse (repetitive note charts with 6 million notes) and Beastie Boys (maybe its out of my hate for Sabotage in the other games, but I'm not a fan).

3 songs in the list that i'm interested in,2 of which are in rock band.
    Will give this a miss.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

I think that's one of the most well-rounded set lists that I've seen in any music game for a long time!

They have stated that they are moving towards a lot of indie bands but I've no problem with that.

Song 2 and Plugin Baby! Bring it on. Cant wait!

Looks a bit dissapointing ( that doesnt mean i wont buy it though :D )

Few good songs but i would love if they released an export key like rock band then i could trade in GH3, aerosmith and greatest hits towards GH5.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,969 ✭✭✭robby^5

Bring the Noize? BRING THE ****ING NOIZE? WANT! But I hate Guitar Hero so much now, GH3 was an absolute waste of money imo and really put me off the franchise altogether...

...but I'm also very interested in Song 2 and All Along the Watchtower and a few others in that list, so I might wind up getting this (game only, I have enough plastic controllers!) but I'd much prefer those songs in RB2. I might just wait it out and see if they're ever added as DLC tbh.

Yeah, gonna give this one a miss.Startin to see a bit of a decline with each game, pity they dont do em in genres now instead of throwin a load of random ones together.Fair enough they have to branch out, but like Meatwad was sayin, I only got the last one for d Tool songs too, n id id have to be pushed to get this just for APC really. Bring on GH:Grunge, GH:Metal, GH:Indie etc.

Not aimed at you Rev. just at the comment which I read on a constant basis
    [RANT]

That is exactly the reason why you SHOULDN'T buy it. People complain about the quickly declining quality of the GH franchise, and then they go out and purchase it. Do you know what that says to Activision? That says

    "Dear Activision,
I realise and am aware that you are churning out GH games at a stupid rate with increasing crapness, but I'm going to buy it anyway. Please continue to make poo.

    Yours stupidly
    Ignorant Gamer"

If a man bought your favourite restaurant and then fired all the staff (who go on to make another excellent restaurant) and instead brought in a team of monkeys to make the food, and each meal you get there is covered in monkey faeces, do you continue to give them custom? No you bloody well do not!

After playing smash hits - I didn't pay for it Dark Onion so dont worry about Activision getting the right to make more poo on account of me :D

But it's ****e , pure ****e and no matter how good the setlists are in future games, the gameplay needs a serious overhaul , unless some miracle happens and all the well discussed flaws in gameplay have been fixed in in GH5 it will just be poo aswell ,as much as i originally liked the looks of the setlist in GH5 (my taste) i wont be touching it .

It was quite funny after being on RB for ages and then going back to GH and dealing with circles for the notes missing them by miles and still scoring them :D

Edit : I should add for the record this is not a rockband fan boy jab at guitar hero , if they would just fix the bloody thing I would gladly play it as much as RB

Smash hits was outsourced to some other studio who had never done action rhythm games before. That's how much Activision cares about you and your custom...

well well well, look at this http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=65261
Not only does Guitar Hero 5 officially supports nearly all of the World Tour DLC (152 of the 158 available songs), but it also supports importing songs from the World Tour and Smash Hits discs. Like Rock Band, not every song will be supported due to licensing restrictions, but for the most part, your content should just work. You'll also have to pay a "re-licensing fee" to bring over the content, though that's not something Activision can help. Blame that one on the RIAA and its desire to make you pay additional fees just to use content that you already own.

Do my eyes deceive me?? Are Activision doing something right? It's about time, and the smash hits imports is a nice touch. I do notice the lack of Metallica importing though. But that's just nit-picking...

Rock band had the same issue , enter sandman was one of the tracks that didn't transfer to rock band 2 when you got the licence if i remember.

Ok so the challenges on each song are the best thing , the worst thing it has all the same problems with the charts

It's just not as clean to play as rock band if that make sense?

Its actually not bad guys, being able to do the career online is cool, and necessary for the challenges unless you have players locally.

They have robbed a few things from RB (not a bad thing) just did a song with 4 people on guitar. The chart gets tiny when you do that and if your playing on expert you'll miss loads of notes because of it

Minor niggle about the career online also is that if you are not the host , you can't see what song is being picked, and also you cant change your difficulty once your in like you can in rock band .

Worst moment so far was failing "do you feel like we do" with 4x expert guitars @ 99% just inches from the end of the chart , the song is 14 minutes long :D

Hmmm, that's a pretty poor effort. Seems the Smash Hits import list is just as limited. Activision claim they're going to expand the list of importable tracks once they get the licences. I reckon I'll hold off and see what happens.

What they dont mention is that you need the code from the manuals that came with the game so you cant just borrow a disc and nab the songs like you could with rock band. I was all set to import the tracks using the world tour disc id borrowed from a friend , lucky it asked for the code before you pay for the license, because I couldn't steal the code from a pal :o
