Can anyone suggest good half-day/ full day riding in Mayo. Don't mind a small amount of road work on quiet roads but looking for good routes for a decent trail ride and oipportunities for canter / gallop. thx :)

As I am happy to box, anywhere, but probably focussed on west and north coasts. Are there any retrictions on beach access?

Have a look here for nice pictures to answer your questions.

I know that you can rent horses and there are many stables that do that have treks and beach rides. My daughter used a few last summer around the westport area.

I do not know the situation if you have your own pony. Ring mayo county council to see about access for your horse to the beaches they may even have a list of public bridleways.

have a look here for links to info or give them a ring

I would presume it would be ok to take a horse onto a beach provided you cleaned up after yourself and have appropiate public liability insurance.
