Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Insurance question

    Hi

I'm a learner driver with learner permit. Hoping to buy a car soon. what are my options re getting said new car from garage to my home considering I am not competent or confident enough yet to drive it myself, even while accompanied by licenced driver.
I will get the car insured in my name before I collect it but if I were to ask someone to collect it for me what would they need to do with their insurance, could they get insured to drive my car ?

    Any help appreciated

If they have a Driving other cars clause on their own insurance then they can just hop in nd drive away but the car will only be covered on a third party basis whilst they are driving it (ie no damage to your car would be covered in the event of an accident)

The other option is for you to add them to your policy as an additional driver, this would give them a level of cover equal to that which you have picked (i.e. fully comp, TPF&F etc) the can be added on for the whole term of the policy or as a temporary driver.

Usually, if you add on a parent as an additional driver for the full term of the policy it can reduce your premium overall.

All of the above are options, but some companies offer open drive on learner permit policies. i.e 25-70 with full licence can drive your car with your consent.
