Acer Aspire Problem

Folks,

Bought a new laptop about 2 months ago - Acer Aspire 6530. When I open iTunes or watch a DVD the sound seems to skip or crackle, as if the laptop is having trouble running the app. I noticed that the HD is partitioned, but both partitions have 100GB each, so they're not running low on space.
It has the following spec:
Vista
4GB Ram
2 x 100GB partitions
AMD Turion X2 Dual Core

Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

First thing to try would be updating your sound driver.

It seems like the whole laptop slows down though. Would the sound driver cause this?

The whole laptop slowing is a bit strange given the spec of it.
But if the sound is crackling then update the drivers first to see if that helps before looking into it more.

Would it be worth removing the partitions and having everything on 1 C: drive?

No.
It would be a lot of work for nothing.

C: is at the start of the drive and so will slightly faster data transfer and lower seek times than also you can put important files on both drives to give you a slightly better chance of recovery.

you could resize /remove later on to put another OS on the system without affecting C:



Try VLC videolan.org as a different DVD player to see if it makes any difference , but if iTunes has the same problem then it's probably the sound drivers OR a general slowess that affects everything. if the PC is slower than when you got it first then check for malware too.
