Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Im helping someone pick a new lens for their Nikon D40. I found some nice ones but they say that they will either not work at all with this camera, or they only have manual focus.

    Weird? Why is this?

Im looking for an all-in-one type lens, was considering the Sigma 28-70mm f2.8 - or even a 18-125 or 28-200 - or similar.

What lens might be the best bet? Budget is small unfortunately but any suggestions would be appreciated...
    Thanks

The D40 and D60 dont have an on board motor for the Auto Focus so it has to be built into the lens to work.

Cant recommend lenses myself but I am also interested in what would be a good first purchase to add to the standard lense

The D40 and D60, (D5000 too I think) don't have a motor on the body to focus the lens. They require the autofocus to be built into the lens itself.

Other lens may not work due to things like size etc I presume. I'm sure there's other reasons too!
