Haha! That was quite witty! Fair play to you. Not too short, not too long, straight to the point with fun bits in between. I loved it.:pac:

Great blog, except I never found out anything to do in Dublin without drinking! :P
But it was an informative and funny read. Just a quick question though, since when is there no drinking at house parties?

I meant that house parties can be fun when YOU are not drinking - but pubs aren't.

    They can be

For me, its good once the pub isnt too loud, and I'm with a decen gang of people

Overly loud [music wise] pubs are the biggest irony ever!!

    Funny blog!

If your actually looking for a great listing of things to do in dublin (sober or not) I recommend signing up for the LeCool newsletter, Dublin edition.

Best guide to whats going on; gigs, festivals, exhibitions and random out there, in my opinion.

Myself and my friends have been trying out "sober sunday" adventures recently, with excellent results!

    Excellent piece!

I'm a drinker who's bored with the drinking scene (for the most part) and is looking for alternatives.

I think you're dead right about the portrayal of drinking in the ad campaigns and the attitude that drinkers have to these ads. Is it time the campaigners and govt. offered alternatives to drinking by means of free pools/gyms/saunas as you said? I reckon so.

One thing I have found to be a fantastic alternative is charity comedy nights. They tend to take place in pubs however, but are a great night out if you're with a group of non-drinkers, or actual moderate drinkers.

So, what is there to do in Dublin when you're sober? More suggestions please!

there's plenty to do in dublin being sober. Play pool in ugc then head to the pictures wherever u fancy. Go for a walk with ur mates, sit in a restaurant and enjoy a meal.

wow that really is a great blog post. Don't think i've ever seen anything so well put in that would pretty much sums up a lot of my attitudes and thoughts on drink and probably many others here I'd imagine.

Just read that blog for the first time. It's a pity you stopped writing, because it is all so very true. Especially about the whole "Drink Aware" ads.

    Bravo, sir!

hey save a few bob, me and my mate's are doing something similar these days, just taking Sunday (or sometimes Saturday) out to find cool adventures that you never end up doing when your hungover. Do have any suggestions for adventures that we might not have thought about?

That was excellent and made some really good points. Particularly on the Drink Aware ads. And the waste of talent which is so prevalent in this country.

ÒP that blog is nail on head. You should rewrite Allen Carr's easyway book, same kind of thinking but you explain it better
