Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So does that mean any other focal point besides the dots?
    Thanks

Yeah. It doesn't have to be central either, but central is probably the easiest way to break it.

Rite folks heres my entry, if only i had a better camera, well i was working so thats explainable , i know the quality is terrible but seen this and immediatly thought of the assignment, so i grabbed myphone from my pocket before he got to the top, its of my brother going up a ladder about 35feet up the top of a gable wall of a house, its mad looking, well i think so, ha ha.

Forget about image quality, that photo is class. If it doesn't win I'll eat my hat

This wee prick actually woke me up with the noise it made slamming off walls in my room. Took a photo in my half asleep state before ridding myself of the blighter. I call him Mothzilla.

Don't worry it happens to us all.

Funny thing though and I might be going out on one here so would like a 2nd or 3rd opinion: that photo of yours strikes me as not breaking the rule of thirds and in a subtle way it is in fact crossing a few i's and dotting a few t's of the rule of thirds.

Ya really have it in for me today eh! :p I'm already "out" anyway so no odds. But how is it conforming to the rule of thirds? It's all centered up - rule of halves?!

Nah, not at all mate. Great photo as said and more of it.

I don't know anything really about the rule of thirds other than it exists. I've never done a course, joined a club or even read a book on the sciences of taking a snap. But just to my eye and to put the question to those that know far more than I do, my eye is drawn to the top of the stairwell (naturally enough I'd imagine) and that kinda hits around a third of the pic but not exactly, my next eye contact is the mid-way concrete platform in bold white. Again this isn't exactly set a third way on the pic but with these two strong focal points that are set only slightly askew to perfect thirds they work together in a harmony that then draws an almost perfect picture of thirds.
That's just my eye though and my understanding. Because it has a 'rule' that rule can still be stretched to slightly beyond the rule and yet still lie within the rule.
Great photo to put up as an example of what is and isn't. I'm not giving a definitive answer at all though. As said I'm only a knock about kinda snapper with zero formal education in the matter, but for some reason your photo kinda gives me a rule of thirds feel (if even in a clever illusion not to).
I could be very well wrong though.

Thanks all i'm chuffed!!! time to get the thinking hat on for the new assignment, i'm not sure weather to make it a really difficult one or a general one that would get loads of entries... ah well i'll bask in my glory till monday then i'll have the new one, ha ha.

Just to say as well to anyone interested in entering you don't always need a big fancy camera with fancy lenses, just a 2mp camera like i have on my phone does just as good, well sometimes, and a big thank you to all who voted!!!
